Frequently Asked Questions About Kinder Registration:

How Long is the Kindergarten Day? - OLG has an all-day Kindergarten that begins at 8:15
and ends at 2:45 daily.

How Old Does My Child Need to be to Enroll? - We ask that the student generally be 5
years of age by September 1st. If you are convinced that your child is ready for school,
you can elect to register a child if they are 5 years of age by December 1st. Please note
that if we deem your child is not ready for our Kinder class, we may remove their
enrollment status if we see fit.

How Do I Know If My Child Is Accepted at OLG? - All students that register will be invited
to attend a "mock" day of school on a Saturday in March. From that point, we will
determine the students that we feel are most ready and those that are not. This
determination will be made based on academic ability and most important, social skills
and behavior. If your child is accepted, you will be notified by mail.

How Many Students Will Be Accepted? - We strive to keep our class size as low as
possible in Kindergarten in order to keep learning at an optimal level. We hope to be
able to accept anywhere from 25-28 excellent students.

What If We Are Not Catholic? - You do not have to be Catholic to attend OLG. However,
you should be aware that there is an order of acceptance that we adhere to, which is
as follows: 1. Siblings of Current Students, 2. Catholic OLG Parishioners, 3. Catholic
Non-Parishioners, 4. Non-Catholic.

What Will My Child Need To Know Academically? - At Registration Night, there will be a
hand-out that our Kindergarten teacher has prepared, which will give suggestions
about things you can do to get your child prepared for school. If you would like to view
the Curriculum Guidelines for Kindergarten, please refer to the tab on this website's
homepage.

Is There After School Care? - We have an Extension Program that runs from dismissal
until 6pm daily. There is an extra charge for this service. Details will be made available
on the night of registration.

Will My Child Need To Wear a Uniform? - As a safety measure, we allow our Kindergarten
students to wear free-dress every day rather than require a uniform. This allows us to
easily identify our Kinder students and assist them if they are in need. Uniform
requirements begin in 1st grade.
MORE INFO TO COME LATER IN THE SCHOOL YEAR.
